Meet the Chief Deputy

Chief Deputy William Moses

A Career of Service

Chief Deputy William Carl Moses serves as the second-in-command of the Calhoun County Sheriff’s Office. He has dedicated nearly two decades to this agency, rising through the ranks through steady leadership, experience, and commitment to the profession.

He began his career working in corrections and communications before moving into patrol and investigations. Over time, he served as Corporal, Sergeant, Lieutenant, and Captain. Each role gave him firsthand knowledge of how every division operates. That perspective now shapes how he leads.

Chief Deputy Moses understands this office from the ground up because he has lived it.

Education and Professional Growth

In addition to his practical experience, Chief Deputy Moses has invested heavily in his education. He earned a master’s degree from Jacksonville State University and has completed extensive professional development training throughout his career.

He has also served as an adjunct instructor, helping educate and mentor future criminal justice professionals. Teaching has strengthened his belief that leadership is not just about authority — it is about developing others.

Leadership Philosophy

Chief Deputy Moses believes strong agencies are built on accountability, trust, and consistency. He values professionalism at every level of the organization and works to ensure that standards remain high.

He is known for being steady under pressure. He approaches decisions carefully and focuses on long-term results rather than short-term reactions. Because he has served in nearly every operational area of the Sheriff’s Office, he understands the challenges deputies and staff face each day.

His leadership style is practical and direct. He supports his command staff, expects ownership from supervisors, and believes growth happens through responsibility.

Personal Commitment to the Community

Chief Deputy Moses is a lifelong resident of the region. He and his wife, Jesse, reside in Piedmont with their children. His roots in Calhoun County are deep, and that connection strengthens his commitment to public service.

He understands that law enforcement leadership extends beyond the office. It involves relationships, community trust, and visibility. He takes that responsibility seriously.
