Elections
In Alabama, the Sheriff, Probate Judge, and Circuit Clerk serve as the Canvassing Board for all elections except municipal elections. Together, they help ensure that every election is conducted fairly, lawfully, and with integrity.
The Canvassing Board appoints qualified election officials, including inspectors and clerks, who staff polling locations across the county. These officials are trained to follow Alabama election law and protect the rights of every voter.
Under Alabama law, the Sheriff has a duty to preserve the peace and enforce the law. During elections, this responsibility includes helping maintain order at polling locations and ensuring a safe, secure environment for voters and election workers.
On Election Day, members of the Board travel throughout the county to visit polling sites, answer questions, and confirm that voting procedures are properly followed. This hands-on oversight reflects our commitment to transparency, accountability, and public confidence in the electoral process.
We are honored to serve the citizens of Calhoun County and work diligently to protect both the right to vote and the integrity of every election.
