School Resource Bureau

School Resource Officers are specially trained deputies assigned to provide a full-time law enforcement presence within the Calhoun County School System. SROs serve as law enforcement officers, mentors, and trusted adults on campus. Their presence promotes a safe and orderly learning environment while building positive relationships with students, faculty, staff, and parents.

SROs work closely with school administrators to address safety concerns, prevent criminal activity, and support comprehensive campus security planning. They respond to school crises and are considered the first responders to any critical incident occurring on campus. Trained in school-based threat response, they coordinate with patrol, investigators, fire, and EMS when necessary.

In addition to maintaining a proactive law enforcement presence, SROs investigate crimes that occur on school property or at school-sanctioned events. This includes incidents involving students, staff, or visitors. They ensure criminal matters are handled appropriately while maintaining strong communication with school officials and families.

Several K-9 units are assigned to assist the SRO Division. These K-9 teams are trained to detect firearms, narcotics, and vaping devices, helping deter contraband and maintain a safe educational environment.
